Video games journalist gives blank Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 disc “9 out of 10″

Video games are truly the opposite of the movie industry nowadays. Which is ironic, considering how hard developers are trying to make their games into movies. The big, huge blockbusters developers make actually appeal to the smallest audience. Complete opposite of summer movie blockbusters. And yet, the gatekeepers, “journalists” are all too eager to let this dynamic continue. Down the drain they go.

It leads to cases where a game like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is all but guaranteed a 9, 9.5 or even a 10 before it even enters a reviewers’ hands.

With this dynamic, you start to see things like, “Call of Duty: MW2 plods along at times, resembles Bond at the end a bit more than it should, and you need to have played the first one to understand the story at all. Oh, but there’s multiplayer. 9 out of 10!” I even saw a review today that said Infinity Ward’s expertise with the FPS genre had been passed by during the last two years, and MW2 seemed kind of dated. 9 out of 10!

Bwah?!
