This is getting scary now. The backlash against the iPad (people almost seem offended by its mere presence now—and they haven’t even touched it!) was eerily similar to the backlash in 2006 against the Wii.
Now, even the meta imagery and Photoshop jobs are nearly identical. Taped together GameCubes ring a bell, anyone? GameCube 2.0? “Just a bigger iPod touch?!”
This all tells me that in 18 months time there could very well be a country called Apple Inc., such will the power of this company be…
This is why “those who don’t understand the past are condemned to repeat it” doesn’t apply here. It’s “those who do understand the past are more than happy to rehash it.” It’s not immunity to irony; it’s contempt for it. Much more dangerous because we are no longer dealing with stupid people; we are dealing with dishonest people who lie. Now; I’m praying that iPad kills everything and even slows down the DS and Wii; just to rub it into their faces more.
And while everyone is slobbering over iPad; Nintendo quietly released it’s finances and sales and once again I see that during the three month period; Wii had 11 third party games reach one million; while having only one first party title (take one guess what it was?). Third parties cannot sell on Wii? What’s that? Me not know how those two go together.
I am so loving this generation.
