Ain’t going, but I’ll wage a bold prediction, if I may: The 3DS steals the show, even as the “enthusiast press” lambastes the new system for a lack of games, strange design characteristics and a weird Nintendo keynote that seems kiddie to them.
Don’t think I can argue against the prediction much.
I thought I saw you on the list of E3 attendees on GIBiz. Change your mind? Or has Gizmodo cut funding to help fight their legal and PR war over the iPhone issue?
Yeah, I’m registered, but I never got around to organizing a trip. It was a “just in case” registration through Gizmodo/Infendo. I guess…next year?!
Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Sorry IGN; I don’t buy what you are selling. History has shown that handhelds are always one generation behind the consoles. If you said Gamecube or even XBOX then you are almost there. And why would you talk to third party developers off the record? They could have been talking about their grocery list of stuff Nintendo should do; not what Nintendo will do.
June 15th cannot come fast enough and IGN “readers” will be disappointed (at least); I can just see it now. Prediction: the processor will be a NVIDIA Tegra chip and it will only be about 75-80% as powerful as a PS2. And it will still sell tens of millions of units.
I’ll make another prediction. Most of the new games shown will be for the PS360 and the Wii will get shafted by 3rd parties yet again.
@MG: And if history is our guide, that will have very little impact on Nintendo’s bottom line. It’s bittersweet, but true.
Well; I was wrong about the Terga chip prediction since the deal between Nintendo and nVidia is dead on arrival.

Can you really believe what IGN said about 3DS:

I still stand on the point of the 3DS not being as powerful as an XBOX 360/PS3.
It’s not HD console powerful but I’ll be damned if it’s not a very powerful little portable console.
That RE demo was well above the visual capabilities I expected it would have.
And now we know why…DMP’s PICA200 is the GPU for 3DS:

Things just get more and more interesting in the handheld space methinks.
I’m guessing that the CPU will be both and ARM11 and an ARM9. We’ll know soon enough.
Well; my prediction on the graphic was the most accurate , but even I was impressed with the handheld’s power even in the stills.
I thought the screens on DS could produce near HD quality due to the pixel size. Am I missing something here?
