Wii MotionPlus delayed

Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo’s final nail in the coffin for its competitors, may have been delayed.

It worked fine at E3, and several third party developers are pimping its functionality in their upcoming games, so what I think is happening is two-fold.

One, it was delayed, from spring to June. Two, IGN is once again whoring for page views. Success!

Amazon starts used game service—they hate developers too!

First the evil Toys R Us starts a used game program. Then, Best Buy restarts theirs in select markets. Now, eCommerce mega giant Amazon is going that route too with a new mail in service for used games. Golly gee, I hope the developers and publishers can survive this terrible affront to their way of life!

More seriously and with less sarcasm, here’s some free advice: Make games that are worth the ridiculous development budgets your games have today, and then, on top of that, stop charging $60 for schlock.

Meanwhile, Nintendo remains mum on all this because they make games that are supported by appropriate budgets and price tags.

Echo chamber

Remember that recent quip about video game blogger irrelevancy? Matt Casamassina over at IGN takes back the crown with this gem about MadWorld:

“Usually, lack of 480p support can be credited to developer laziness,” writes Casamassina. “No way such a claim can be leveled at Platinum Games for MadWorld… I’m wondering, then, if the studio simply wasn’t aware that 480p is ‘kind of a big deal’ for a chunk of Wii owners”

Remember when a “chunk” of console owners cared about having fun with their games, and not progressive or interlaced bullshit statements like the one above? Oh, they still do, and this is just another out of touch games journalist with a shrinking audience? You don’t say.

And, maybe the developers were too focused on, I dunno, making a good game than worrying about the inflated self-importance of the “HD movement.” Just a hunch. It’s also in black and white. So, there’s that.
