Last week Midway lambasted the gummed up inner workings of the PS3 because the system was too difficult to work with in the development studio. Now they’re unloading the Mortal Kombat franchise. Either Scorpion is also a bitch to work with, just like the PaperweightStation 3, or Midway really is in deep shit these days. Probably a mixture of the two.
Apparently (surprise!), it’s a bitch to develop games on the PS3. And no. For once I’m not saying this is due to the incredibly small install base—this time I’m talking about the actual hardware being akin to finding a band of merry men in Sherwood Forest.
Bonus snark: Midway’s in trouble these days, financially. If I were Sony, I’d fire back with a “well, maybe it’s because your company is incompetent and hasn’t made a good game since… Hold on, I’m thinking.”
